Mediterranean Dialogues continue
Women wrote their own feminist manifesto
“Mediterranean Dialogues” event series organized by İzmir Mediterranean Academy continues with the “Women’s Resistance in Art: Social Issues and Art” workshop.
“Mediterranean Dialogues” organized by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality İzmir Mediterranean Academy dedicated its second event to women’s resistance in art. in celebration of March 8th, International Women’s Day.
Moderated by multidisciplinary artist Aynur Tıkıroğlu, “Women’s Resistance in Art: Social Issues and Art” workshop was held on Thursday, March 6th at İzmir Mediterranean Academy meeting hall.
Tıkıroğlu, in the first part of the event, mentioned feminist art and women’s struggle to transform public space by stating that “Art is not independent of social events since art is a space for life. It also takes inspiration from cultural issues and social movements”.
On the second part, participants created their own manifestos from feminist artists’ manifestos, using visual materials. The manifestos were then elaborated together.
