EUROPEAN PILOT CITY İZMİR PROGRAM FINAL CONFERENCE AND HORIZON WORKSHOP
Organized by United Cities and Local Governments, “Culture in Sustainable Cities” meeting was held in Bilbao, Spain in 2015. Through both an invitation to İzmir from this meeting and the culture strategy of the İzmir Culture Workshop held in 2009, the Metropolitan Municipality have taken part in the “Culture in Sustainable Cities: Learning from European Culture 21 Works, European Pilot Cities 2015-2017 Program”.
The European Pilot Cities 2015-2017 Program, implemented among various cities in Europe, was formed through the efforts of a local team consisting of public, private sector, and civil society representatives, supported by UCLG, Culture Action Europe (CAE) and international experts. At the same time it involved collaboration and communication with other pilot cities, as well as peer-level learning processes and events with different countries.
The final event of the Self-Assessment Workshop and Peer-Learning Activities which took place in 2016, 2017, and 2018 and were coordinated by the İzmir Mediterranean Academy, was the Final Conference and Horizon Workshop. Held in February 2019 at the Historical Gasworks Factory, the event gathered experts and cultural managers from Türkiye and abroad.
